Hello all...
I'm hoping someone on these great forums can help me out on a little quest.
I'm looking for leads that can point me to some of the "best" or most "respected" 3D artists out there that create works that embrace the constraint of low-poly counts and no textures.
What I'm wondering is if there's an artist that has specialized in using a low-poly constraint to create sort of the 3D version of Impressionism in the 2D art world.
I'm envisioning someone that really uses lighting, creative geometry, etc. to do something that as soon as you see it, you say to yourself, "Wow... That's really interesting."
Part of the reason that I'm starting to dig into this is that I'm a _really_ old-guard 3D artist that goes back to the old Wavefront on a Stardent days then things like VRML when low-poly count was a necessity and not a choice.
There's so many amazing 3D artists these days, but they are mostly built around the idea of sculpting 6mil poly objects in Zbrush, and if low-poly comes in as a constraint for games, then renderers are just using things like normal maps to simulate high-poly looks.
I'm curious if there's any "serious" 3D artists that have been in the game a long time and have really made a name for themselves as the Monet or Van Gogh of low-poly 3D art.
I know this is a fairly esoteric request, but I figured if anyone would know, it would be someone here. I've been googling on and off for several days and have not really come across anything.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

The low poly thread is also a good thread to check out.
