Hey, I am on vacationing at the moment, and all my good hardware is miles away. All I have is my MacBook pro. I want keep practicing my 3d environment skills, but all I have is unity 3d at the moment. And it doesn't seem to have the type of graphical processing as udk. Any alternatives you guys know about do that I can practice making assets?
I've tried unity and.... I'm pretty much not convinced yet that it's a good visual engine. Just more of a great game engine.

The samples on the site might give wrong impression. It's actually very capable graphics wise. The engine also uses a very similar shader node system as in UDK.
The downloadable demo comes with the full game editor so artists can use it for free (coding a full game requires a license).
One thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't really support or bake lightmapslike UDK and Unity do. In C4 it's dynamic lights or nothing.

You can run it on apple hardware if you boot it in windows, but osx? No, The unreal engine uses directx, a microsoft only app. It'd be huge news and take a lot of time, and you'd probably start to hear unreal games being announced on osx, but that is not the case.
EDIT
Oh, I was a bit wrong, they are getting the engine to work on osx, games but no udk yet.
