Those gun renders kick ass! Are they mental ray composites or what?

guns look sick, i like how you gave them a nice background ! seem kind of highpoly, but maybe that is what you were going for (i see normal maps and i think lowpoly)

maybe show off some of the models with the wire frame turned on
as for the site, im not a big fan of the gear on the left with the words hanging from it for two reasons
one- i thought they were buttons to show off modelling, texture etc
two- it offsets your site so once you scroll down its no longer centered, maybe if you made it so only the content scrolls up and down, and your banners stay static it might look better - but thats just being picky :P

Got some solid work man! Though the character you have in there is really off-putting compared to the rest of your work. You might consider taking it out as it is holding the rest of your work down.

I'm already working on another character which will replace this one, but it will take some time, so i guess it is better this way than blank page or WIP. Thanks!

CandyStripes05 You are not being picky. In the beginning I tried that only content scrolls up and down inside other workspace but then i had some issues with picture box which appeared cropped, so i decided for a simplified version. Thanks.

In my opinion, the background is taking away from your vehicle presentation. I couldn't even tell it was a helicopter at first because it blended with background. I had to watch the video at the bottom of the page to tell what it was.
Don't get me wrong, I think the model is really awesome, but I don't think adding background is helping it. I believe that the model (with the effects) can stand on its own with a nice gradient background. Kinda like in your video).

    Anyways, great stuff!

What's up with the wireframes for the textures for the guns? Are you texturing the high-poly and then baking everything down?

Original models are low or mid poly but when i'm saving UVW maps for editing i put one iteration, and then get a smoother map. I keep original low poly and just put turbosmooth. You could see original model wireframes in videos but basically it is high-poly. It could work as a low poly too, but probably i would have to bake entire material.

Are you going for a game industry job? I'm not sure if you understand the point of wireframes. We don't want to see the wireframes for the high poly, those are irrelevant. Employers want to see the low poly game mesh with tri counts and efficient modeling. The wireframes I do see are for the mid poly meshes before they get turbo smoothed, and those don't matter, and uv layouts with wireframes on them are even more pointless.

Your work looks pretty good, but the models don't seem game ready, and that seems like a red flag to an employer.

I currently work on commercials and motion pictures industry, before i worked in game industry and i can easily switch back. Maybe will be good to present one real game ready low poly model for game industry jobs. Anyway I just presented part of my current workflow i use on my current job. Thanks for your advices Predator, i'll try to adapt my page content for different kinds of industry because i plan to do freelance. Current company survival is very questionable. Simply i'm going for a anything, there is not much jobs so i can choose what like.

It's your right to do so, I forgot to say for these kind of people, that you don't have to inform me about that, just shut it down and do what you already do.
  • skankerzero
Well in general you want your site to load as fast as possible.

I would recommend trying different compression on your images and find one that looks good, but loads fast.
Right now your images aren't large, so the high file size is doing more harm than good by turning away people that could be giving you feedback or looking at giving you work.

I also noticed that some images appear to be 'clickable' but when I click them it just takes me to the top of your website.

He was just warning you that a potential employer may do the same thing, there's no reason to be rude.

It's normal jpg. When you click on some images you should see the bigger picture and in some cases wireframe. Smaller pictures won't fit page design. Yes, maybe some employers want to see something quickest way, I don't know, lot of people are in hurry. I'm trying to get some constructive critiques on content, I already know that everything is slow, but that requires different design.

For ZacD and skankerzero I hope that no one is offended. I just don't like when I ask you what do you think about my shoes, and you say to me that my pants are ugly. :)

    That's fine.

Just trying to help you out on the technical side of things.

Content is great, but you have to make the content easy to get to which means having a website that's easy to navigate.

I understand that too and I'm not offended.

But sometimes, no matter how pretty your shoes are, if your pants are ugly then no one will notice your fancy shoes.

That's logical thing to say, crossed my mind in moment i pushed enter. :)
    So what do you suggest?

    So what do you suggest?

The simplest thing I would suggest is just to clean up your html.

Make sure everything is consistent. If you can click one image to make it larger, then you should be able to click them all.
I know you have some images that switch between regular and wireframe when you roll over them, but I would still have them pop up a larger image when you click it. Perhaps the wireframe image or a composite image of both.

Upon visiting your site a second time, everything seemed to load faster, even the pages that I had not visited before, so I can only guess your server was having some problems.

Thanks skankzero, I'll try to do that. Maybe it is server, I think that second time some images are already loaded in internet temporary files so maybe it's than faster. Anyway you helped me, and I'll see what I can do. :)
