I enjoyed it. It wasn't as god as the older Carpenter one, but that was classic, you can't beat classics.
But yeah the one thing that stood out to me was waaaaaaaaaaay too much cgi. Like... All the time. I never saw a single puppet even. It made me sad, because I remember reading about how they were fed up of CGI and wanted to do as much practical stuff as possible... So yeah
I love 3D, but I will always be absolutely floored by the amazing work people can do with real media.. I haven't seen it yet, but I hope they kept these things in there, because even the behind the scenes shit is fucking terrifying haha
so i watched this video an i was like holy shit this stuffs all awesome, i thought the new movie was 99% mediocre cgi.. then i read that most of this awesome praticle effects was scrapped to make room for mediocre cgi.
Okay, so I just watched the movie and most of the CGI FX were fine with a few exceptions which had a poor lighting/colour-grading match to the plate footage, which is inexcusable for a modern high grade title.
The actual movie is great. I much prefer the ADI pilot animatronic to the one used in the film.
