Hi,
A while back, I started posting stuff about a level I was making, wich I didn't finish... But now, after a lot of playing in the shaders and different game engines, I decided to start on a little idea I had while first learning UDK. As I'm not that good of a visual artist, I mostly prefer level design, I decided to go cel-shaded,.
So now, as I'm texturing my first house, I wonder, would it be better if it were brick walls, rock walls or wood, I find there's a lot of wood already on the house, and I really don't know where to go with this, so if anyone with a good sense of beautifullness (who cares if it's not a word) has an opinion, I would really appreciate it!
Also, I'll post more screens once the environment has more stuff in it, as it's rather empty right now, but any feedback would be really awesome!
Thanks
-Phil-

The house stone texture is very dull, theres not much going on there. You can try a hand-painted approach which will come off pretty nicely. Something along the lines of this but more cartoonish.

Also flintstones houses are similar, check how they got surface detail;

Try adding grass, other plants and some rock outcrops to help populate the area
But as you say, hand painted is what I'm going for, I was just hesitating between rock or wooden wall. I'll paint a rock one and post it soon.
As for grass and rocks, I'll be working on those as soon as I've textured the house. They shouldn't take very long anyway.
Do you think something like this would be good for the walls?;

Also, I've ran into a small problem, my chimney isn't casting a shadow on my house, dunno if someone has an idea about that. It's not the lightmap or the light as far as I can tell, and I had a shadow before I textured it.;
