Hi everyone! Here's my entry. I plan on giving him some spots or some other patterns (could be a cool way to make variations). Haven't decided on a team name/number/name.
Haha, I'd love to see this guy in action! Neat idea, definitely gives off a reptilian vibe on the first glance, good job pulling that off. Feels very alien.
poff: He'll definitely have a tongue, but I picture he'd just stick it out like MJ while hanging off the rim.
I've been bouncing between working the low and sculpting the high, here's an update:
This topology is nowhere near final. I know I have some elbow room to play with and areas I need to address, but I'm going to hold off until the sculpt is done so I can make better decisions.
@Swizzle: That's a good observation, he's definitely inspired by tree frogs. I really wanted to give him some Chuck Taylors, I'll toy with making them big and stretched to accommodate frog feet, or maybe something different altogether. Thanks!
very nice work on the texture , maybe you could make the eyes black and give them some hard spec to make them pop out more atm they're a bit unreadable
Looking awesome! Dunno how I feel about him being bluish and his jersey being the same relative color, seems to get lost in the comp to me. Maybe a complementary color for the jersey and shorts? This is of course a minor crit. Love where the polycount logo is at.
Thanks guys. Yeah, while I was packing my UVs I had to make some concessions and sacrifice texel density in face in favor of asymmetry on the jersey and detailed patterns arms. I was hoping to have time to do a lot of variations for skin pattern and color, but I got tied up with a lot of other stuff.
I think if he was on an iPhone or something, you'd rarely be up close. Definitely a big regret though.
Anyway I'm out of time because of some other projects and the holidays, so here's where I ended up:
@MDSChee: I reaaaally wanted to give him the silver and black for you buddy, but I did give him good ol' number 20. GINOBILIIIIIIIII
spec sheet:
textures:
Did a quick sculpt of a ball based on the box-art from NCAA College Slam
Nice! Though I wish you'd have given more UV space to the body and head and less to the arms and legs because the pixelation is very noticeable on his face.
From concept to finish, this looks great. I really dig his design!
A quick little thing I noticed that may have slipped by you was in your last image with him getting ready to dunk, you forgot to clean out the gray background under his little left arm. :P I just thought I'd point that out in case you still hadn't caught it.

Takes my way back to good old 1994.

Yes dark eyes will look great on him

Overall, I really enjoy the poses and character!
