Is it just me, or does Konami seem to be bipolar with their publishing / funding decisions? First they go "yeah, we'll fund this project!" and then they turn around and go "eh, nevermind, we're not going to fund anything". Sometimes they even have the decency to do it early on, instead of half-way through.

Unfortunately just about every publisher does that. A project can be full swing into production and then the publisher will exercise a clause where they can pull funding at any milestone. That's exactly what happened when our studio laid everyone off

And yep, it's pretty nasty, seems to happen all the time these days. Makes you think the whole publisher/studio co-op is a bit f****.
And seeing as the publishers must make more money from the game than they pay the studio for all the expenses, in order for it to actually be worth it.. then surely it'd be better if the studio itself took care of the publishing and advertising part... Though the problem lies in coughing up the money to actually get it rolling in the first place.
At least that's the way it works in most cases, as far as I know? :x
I were actually working on this project myself I think (Not sure as they didn't disclose the title of it, but this seems to be the one)
just a little while ago, and were going to continue here soon. Well, we'll see how it turns out =/
Sorry to hear it guys. This has been a pretty bad habit with publishers lately.
Timegate is still hiring for some positions, if you guys are willing to move to Houston.

I know Gabe is staying. I'm not sure about cedric or mcque. Mcque probably will stay, he's one of their top engineers.
