hi polycount members.. i'm new to low poly game art and this is my first genuine effort to create something in low poly.. its still work in progress but i need some advice's to learn more techniques and to knw how i can do better ..
You have a good start but there are a few issues that I see. The side of the car looks really over saturated and there is some odd banding on the side windows. Also, does this have a normal map? The window seems to flow right into the frame without any change in depth. I think a normal map (or edited one if this has one) and an AO map would help this a lot.
Is your rust on a separate layer in Photoshop? if so, it should be easy to lower the spec relative to the paint, and generate a normal map - both these things will really help sell it I think
what I like to do is have a base layer of rust in my photoshop file, and mask it out accordingly using scatter brushes and shapes derived from rust streak photos like I see in your texture. this gives more control and means the rust layer is isolated, making it easier to generate spec/normal
cdevens: first of all thanks for your comments .. yeah it does have a normal map but i think i have to tweak the settings.. nd ur right about that window aswell will fix it for sure...
benji: yup rust is on a separate layer.. nd i do have a normal map but i need to tweak the value for sure.. mainly i put every thing on separate layer, so i can tweak it later .. really thanks alot for this comments.. i will update nd post soon again..
If you are trying to get a feel for what your model would look like in real time, I reccomend the Xoliul shader. You can view your model in the viewport and get an accurate idea of what your model would look like in engine. Also, if anything is set up incorrectly, normal maps don't show up when rendered in max. Before you tweak anything on your normal map, I would check out how it looks with this shader. The shader is really easy to install and use.
Only crit I can give without knowing how "low poly" you need to be etc lol is that the headlights which I would guess are either plastic or glass seem to dented or bumpy (maybe because of a normal map??) which wouldnt happen. Atleast to my knowledge :P.
Also maybe push the wheels in a little bit, they look like they come out to the side just a bit to much.
Sorry if my crit is a bit useless. I am new to this 8-)
First thing to consider : what is the material?
The traffic cone is made with plastic, so logically, there shouldn't have rust on it : metal has rust with age, but not plastic.
Don't put rust everywhere, it should have a kind of "story" behind it : why this part is more damaged than others? Same thing with the wheel : no rust on the black part because it's made of rubber.
cdevens: i dnt think Xoliul shader would work without a graphic card right? my gpu died so i'm working wthout it atm..
l.croxton: no your critics are not useless .. i really made some basic mistakes.. i will correct them all and you can always give your valuable comments..
megalmn200: WOW! thanks for every reference image and you really boost my confidence by pointing out my mistakes... i'm working out to make this alot better.. hope i can achieve something good.. thanks again ... and plz if you know about more tutorial that can help me please share the links...

On the metal barrel, brighter the dark leaking a bit, unless it's oil that leak.
