Amazing stuff Helder, I've liked your work ever since I met you on the forum admin team for Remedy/Alan Wake. This is going to help a lot of people and I hope you earn a whole bunch of money
Hey Helder congratulations on releasing these, they look great. Definitely gonna pick up the bundle, been playing a bit with the CryEngine 3 tools and this will definitely push me to use them even more.
I have one quick question though: most CryENGINE stuff I've seen (tutorial wise) seems to focus on outdoor scenes. Is the engine just better suited for that than others, or is it just because that stuff looks pretty damn impressive?
I'm going to be starting a small interior scene soon and I was wondering whether this would be preferable over UDK.
Wesley, actually you can create some really good interior environments with CE3, but like you say, creating exteriors is so impressive people just do that more often with CE3. On the 3rd volume, I cover how to create an interior level from scratch in a few minutes.
Cheers! the documenation that HP and Xenon have put out already have made it seamless for me to jump over from UDK to CE3. So this video series will be damn good!
awesome man! the overall lack of documentation for CE compared to UDK always made me tenative about starting projects in it, im probably gonna grab this and then there will be no excuse. from a lighters perspective, 100% realtime deferred is awesome, cant wait to get more into it.
dude. not cool. what you are suggesting is piracy and it's disrespectful to helder and the guys at Eat3D who invested a lot of time in making this happen. I'll just quote our art-manager on that very topic:
don't be cheap. this is first hand information from one of the top C2 level artists. If you are serious about learning Cryengine thjis is probably the best thing to get. and christmas is around - tell your mom to not buy you underwear and socks. you need these DVDs instead (you will not leave the house when you have these - nobody will notice dirty underwear or socks)....
[...]
If you do not have the money now, save up for the purchase.
If you see the amount of information you can get from him through these videos, the price is probably right.
And if things are too cheap (like pirated copies), people are not appreciating the work which went into the making. It has to hurt a little in the pocket to fully appreciate the value.
[...]
Helder is totally commited to quality and I was able to experience it through a short project and through people who worked with him.
Conclusion: Save your money, get better, apply for a job at Crytek

@e-freak and WarrenMarshall,
Thanks for sticking up for us!
We have invested so much time and effort into this set, and deliberately made the tutorials as cheap as possible because we know that times are hard in the current climate and we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to learn CE3 at a budget that is affordable to all.
The download version of each volume costs $49.95, rather than the usual $54.95-$69.95 that we would normally charge for something like this, and the bundle only costs $104.89, which means you are pretty much getting one tutorial from the set for free. (The discount on the CE3 bundle is actually 10% higher than on other 3 DVD bundles)
Dont forget that we also offer an extra 20% discount to all students and unemployed artists, which brings that total down to $83.91 for the bundle (a total discount of $65.94).
On a happier note, we are really grateful to everyone who has purchased this set, or any of our tutorials in the past. We do this for you guys and wouldnt be able to without the support you have given to us in the past. If everyone pirated the tutorials, we simply couldnt afford to continue making them any more and then we all lose out. Thanks for the support everyone!
sorry guys , I didn't meant to be disrespectfull ...some people doesn't have even 5 $ ...and I always said that ..life isnt fair anyway ....I have BC's degree in computer graphics science and guess what ...I am unemployment for a year now ... maybe I were born in the wrong country ..because I have no chances at all ...but you are right ..its not right , its like piracy ..seriously sorry
tareqd8 - check out the unemployment discount or - if you really can't afford it at the moment at all, there's another alternative: post your maps and models on polycount and everyone will be happy to provide you with feedback for free!
Ah thats awesome you have a student discount. I have been on the verge of begging my University to give me the money to buy these as I recieve zero student loan etc. Thank you for making these dvds as I want to broaden my knowledge (UDK is the only engine I have a rough way around :P ) plus with the crytek nottingham studio near me it would give me an extra string to my rather lacking bow :P.

I hope you guys enjoy, this should be more than enough to get anyone up to speed with the basics of the engine and the editor.
Any question, just shout me a PM or post here, I'll keep an eye on the thread!
Enjoy everyone and a special thank you to Riki and Andy for being great dudes and making this possible.
NVM: I bought it ...
