Hey folks,
I finished this up a week or so ago, and its not as good as it could be. I need some direction as to what I'm doing wrong, as I am doing things wrong. Somewhere. Or many places. Either way, crits please.
Here's a new render of the head. I had a looksee at some other maps, and found a few new things to try, but its still not feeling correct.
Things I notice:
1. The hairline is unnatural, the hair itself doesn't feel like hair, which might have something to do with the normal and spec maps as well.
2. The neck lacks any skin detail, but this isn't so much of an issue with this, but something to keep in mind with future models.
3. The facial hair needs a tad of normal map attention.
4. The eyes look bad. And I need to figure out how to fix them.

The head is a bit too big for the body.
Try to analyse how the muscle of the head works, then you can start to have fun with ZBrush. http://catalog.nucleusinc.com/imagescooked/9300W.jpg
Same thing with the body. http://www.myweightlifting.com/images/muscle-anatomy-chart.jpg
Most people here start with a nude model in order to see if all the proportions and muscles are correctly done. After that, you can tackle the rest of the character (cloth, armors, etc...) This article should help you with the topology : http://wiki.polycount.com/FaceTopology?highlight=%28%5CbCategoryTopology%5Cb%29
UV looks good, but this tutorial should help you for texturing : http://www.nextgenhardsurface.com/index.php?pageid=racer445
Same thing with metal : http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/photoshop/how-to-hand-paint-convincing-metal-textures/
Good luck!
I'm going to call this one; time to study some other stuff for a couple weeks.
