Uncookedtrout: his shoulders will be pretty beefy, it doesn't show up to well in the spheres is all. JGcount: it was Peter Griffin was standing over my shoulder saying "c'monnnn" Sirdelita, lloyd: thanks ishii: thanks man, it was just part of a google image search, I tihnk it was for "Rhino-man"? Swizzle: no pressure or anything :poly131: but since you've asked so nicely;
it should be failry self-explanitory, the only thing I'll specify is the retop. Initially I was going to do the retop in zb but its such a finicky bitch sometimes that I moved it all to maya halfway through. I also brought in the adaptive skin and did a sort of kit bash between the two before remodeling the hands and feet. Also moved the eye down below the smaller horn.
Proportions are looking wacky-awesome. I'm a little concerned about how well that's going to subdivide, though; you have some triangles and stuff that may give some heavy-duty pinching.

See, there you got me all worried, so I had to do a little test (just a 1/2hr quickie) and except for the tips of the horns I think it should be fine. I'm actually having a harder time getting used to my new tablet. Upgraded from a no-name XP-pen to an Intuos 4 and it's soooo much more sensitive. It's like Bruce Willis in that episode of friends where he learns to open up.
Duncan: Hay is for horses, this is a Rhino :poly124: where's your entry?!? JGcount: Thanks man obeyurnapster: Why thank-you. disanski: That's...really sweet? Cheers! Sirdelita: I actually saved over the wrong file after the frist zsphere wip so I'm afraid those particular proportaions are lost forever. It actually took me a fair bit to even come close to recreating them in this one. pity: Thanks. deadpixl: Neither can I Dan!: We were buddies, Dan! You, me, and Fresno Bob. You know what they did to Bob, huh? Sean VanGorder: I do what I can. allmighty_thunder: Like beefier? Skillmister: Awesome, thanks Tadao215: thanks dude
not much time, but I've done a little more playing with the sculpt. Everything here is pretty wip as I'm kinda just playing with shapes to find what works. I haven't subdivided since the last update, so right now he's 80k which is enough to get the point across but it doesn't really support the detail for stuff like folds in the fabric, or the laces that should be on the front of the pants. Any crits you guys have are more than welcome so fire away:
i kind of have mixed feelings about the head , atm it looks like he would barely be able to support it . Especially when you look at it from side view, but then again in 3/4 perspective i like it.
anyway good job so far , can't wait to see what the end result will be
so apperantly there a hotkey for IE that goes back a page and looses everything you just typed...:poly127:
xxxcubanxxx, sebas, MDShee: Thanks guys, JGcount: The clothes there are pretty loose but I'll definatley do that when I make them properly. Ravenslayer: I know exactly what you mean, but I really like the head to body ration from the 3/4 so I'll probably just let him tip over TaylorMouse: But would you say that to his face??
K, finished some freelance so had a little more time to put in, mostly polishinng off the anatomy before I make the re-make the clothes. I know the level of detail is too high to transfer nicely over to the low-poly 512 textures but I think it just adds so much to the sculpt (now if only I can put down Arkham City).
Look freaking awesome. Only thing that annoys me is the way the tail sticks out from the body at a 90degree angle - but I guess thats because the pants arent there yet. Loving the shoulders
Good stuff, Scudz. I look forward to seeing this finished; the sculpt is looking solid and has a nice mix of large, medium and fine detail. Great proportions, too.
Biggeek: Thanks man, I'm just glad it's worked out so far
duncan: Dude, you've seen mine, now show me your's...
Swizzle: Thanks man, hopefully it bakes out nicely too.
Norron: That's what she... wait nevermind.
Snipergen: Thank-you sir.
EtotheRic: Thanks man, it feels like everything about this design has been just been waiting to be put together.
ranek: Like, one of those little battery-powered fans that you can hang around your neck? Or one of those industrial sized behemoth's that could levitate a large man?
So, it turns out the key to putting Arkham City down is having the dev's release a patch that makes it crash to desktop every two minutes :poly127: which has therefore left me a nice few hours to have another go at the outfit. It's still a little rough in places but I think all the major parts are there, sorry Taylor but the helmet's staying. Originally I planed on keeping everything quite flush with the body so I wouldn't need to remodel anything after the sculpting was done, but I think for some parts to really read I'll need to add some extra geo, and probably make the belt a seperate subtool.
I like the details you're putting into his pants, but I'd suggest actually modeling them out as separate pieces so you can get things to be smoother and more clean. The belt, the laces, the helmet, all those things will bake better if you actually model them as individual pieces. They'll also be easier to work with in the long run since you won't have to worry as much about weird sculpted distortion.
hahaha I wish I could show you something man. I got no ideas, or too many ideas, realised someone else had already started working on the only idea that stuck. sooooo I decided to sit on the sidelines this time around.
I am really digging the details but I agree with Swizzle. modeling the separate pieces makes life heaps easier and cleaner, the bakes come out better too. I freaking love this guy man. Such a great idea really, really looking forward to your next update.

Can I ask where you got the reference image of the giant-thing on the bottom left side? Looks so cool!
Also, you've been stepping up your game lately, Scudz, so I'm really looking forward to this.

nice progress so far
That's exactly why
although I think I may have it a little too high...
I might try adding some more plates to his back and reposition the tail a bit.
(based mostly on working this, into a humanoid mutant mix)

All on seperate layers for easy editing:
probably not!
Anyways, its coming along just GREAT!

One thing though, besides just being an animal man where's the mutant? You might need to push it more.
