Some sculpy sculp updates. Since we magically had a week chopped off the deadline, I decided to start the main sculpting, but changed the style a bit from the more intricate patterns, to broader, stylized designs. Should make the process faster/easier, considering I'm still learning ZBrush =\
I personally prefer the 2nd set over the newer one . I pefer the stretchy skiny lookign bits over the rock cluster things at the moment, maybe you can keep both as different types in the level?
I'm still learning Zbrush, so I'm not exactly fast with it yet. I'm spinning my tires, taking too long with all the smaller macro detail shit. I probably won't be doing as much detail in other elements. Not sure if I'll do the stretched organic elements at all, but I could change my mind. Just not sure at the moment.
Yeah we'll see, hah. Got a long way to go. The rocks in the BG will be very very simplistic, all silhouette, then the sky/planets will be matte I think. Have to hurry up on this. Want to finish all the env shit so I can work on the court itself
Can't see them all in this shot, but I've got 6 pieces sculpted for the large foreground bits. The last two will have much less detail. Then the rest should start picking up speed.
Got the rest of the near-background elements sculpted.
Did some test bakes, results were...okay, considering the small texture size. Not liking it a whole lot so far - still think I overdid the details, seeing as how it doesn't read as well in the low res normal map. We'll see how it goes.
Is that 512x? Looks pretty decent if it is. I presume your not making each of these spikes unique? You could really get away with just 2 or 3 sides of the spike and just 1 center 'rib'. Then you can just adjust the shapes a little to get them looking more unique.
Awesome choice of Sport btw, have you thought about lighting much yet?
