Question about hourly/day rates for freelance work.

Hey everyone.

I applied for some freelance 3D modeling work and have been asked what my hourly/day rate is.

I've only had a few other freelance jobs, and the pay was unique because of some of the places I had to go and live and such. So I'm wondering what I should charge for an hourly/day rate. I'm in Australia, not sure if that matters. The studio asking is in America.

Does something like 25-30 AUD an hour sound reasonable?

I did freelance a couple of years ago, for me it's been either per asset or per day. Either way, I got 125euros a day. I don't know how that fairs with other places, so take it with a grain of salt. But that was my experience.

I think i was making 22AUD an hour back at kmart when i was still in school... so there's that : \

but our dollar being alot better than america's atm probably doesn't help. Depends on your skills too. Try not overcharging, but make sure it's a wage you can live on (if you need to live off it). 30-ish might be reasonable.

Well I told them I'd work for $20. I know thats low, but I have a crappy day job already and this isn't permanent.
