For starters change the renderer to DirectX 9 and see if that helps

Well i don't have that. I have to choose from this options:


NItrous(recommended)
Direct3D
OpenGL

What do you think is the problem?

change the renderer to Direct3D

Choose Direct3D and then you get the choice between directx 9 or 10(choose 9 here).

My guess is the driver or the fact that 3dsmax doesn´t like ATI GPU´s (in this case Nitrous seems to hate ATI)

I hate this, it is going to change something with Max if i choose Direct3D?
I had never problems with Max before. Well, i mist admit, ATI sucks.

Direct3D is more forgiving then nitrous and you can use shaders for realtime rendering.

i have no problems like this, and i'm using an ATI 6950.

i had no problems with my old HD4870 either, but most people have problems.
