Low Poly Stegosaurus for Game

Hello all,

I am currently in the early stages of sculpting on detail on a low poly Stegosaurus in Zbrush. I will export the details in a normal map after sculpting. Right now I am only on Division level 4, but I would like some feedback on where I'm at now.

I appreciate any critiques you can give. :)

Here is the progress on Sculpting so far:

Upcoming changes:

Closer resemblance to "tortoise like" feet
Refining the skin folds
Sculpting more detail in the head and around the large back scales
Generally, just sticking to the reference pics

Thanks for your time!

I know your following references to be realistic but if you want your dinosaur to have more character into it, try scaling up the head and making it more expressive. The first thing that struck me was his weird head and it took me a while to realise the rest was cool.

woah woah woah, as Mike5424 said: go back a few subdivision levels.

I would recommend you get into the mindset "Have I done ALL I can at this subdiv level??" Every level should use the full potential of every vertex, when you pretty much nailed everything on subdiv level 1 you can go up to the next one, and do all you can there and then move on. It will really improve your end result.

Thanks guys, I will definitely go back to level 1 subdivision level and start from there. I'll post an update soon, and I appreciate your inputs!

Update on Stegosaurus.. I have gotten critiques from a few other sources and it was said that his scales need to be refined, which I agree with. If you see any other adjustments I need to make, please feel free to say them. I look forward to your critiques! :)
