Hi all, didn't know where else I could put this, so here we are.
I have just recently registered and started to follow a lot of threads as I find most stuff you guys contribute to this site really inspirational and sometimes plain jaw dropping beautiful.
On a different forum I go to regularly (moderator, so I pretty much have to) I have the option to receive all the notifications of new updates in 1 email. A few days ago my inbox flooded with update mails and I am a bit scared to follow any more threads as this number will grow larger and larger. I have set to get the notifications only once a week, which helps a bit. But extrapolating the number of notifications I received just hanging around here for a week to what I should receive a year from now, it seems a bit unmanageable.
How do you guys stay updated on threads? Is there a option I am missing?

Just don't do it.
There's simply too much going on to keep track of it all. If a thread is really worth following you'll remember it and check back on it from time to time.
Just keep your eyes on the What Are You Working On, Mobile gaming WAYWO, and Tech Artist - What are you working on threads. That should cover a good portion of what's going on.
Also bookmark the technical threads that you think will be useful someday.
+1
Set up a bookmark folder for Polycount, or even subfolders inside that for 'Artwork', 'Tech Stuff', etc etc and then bookmark threads you like.
Whilst the threads are active you have them within easy reach to just click through and look at, then have a clearout every once in a while when the thread is no longer of interest.
As for your problem, I have the exact same problem. I am/was so used to being able to follow every single thread on a forum, but it's a bit different on polycount, just to much to keep up with
Somehow, I feel the functionality of the forum isn't used to it's full potential as now nobody follows threads at all. It would be great to just receive 1 email a week with ALL the updates to threads subscribed to.
@Ben Apuna: " If a thread is really worth following you'll remember it and check back on it from time to time." My experience with trying to remember things to do/ check out, is that's just not working for me. I tend to forget about everything, birthdays, work to do, even some very basic things in life. I am more like a post-it guy. The one that has it's whole workspace covered with them and even has a post-it to remind himself to look at the post-its.
@TeeJay: I guess that's the way to go, the only problem with that is that I work on 3 different machines and it's hard to keep track of all my bookmarks on all the different browsers/ machines.
@MeintevdS: ha, I had to think twice who you are, but when I figured out your name is in your nickname it became all clear. Nice to see you, everything well?
[edit] Hmm, found a good way to look at my subscriptions, it's right there in the userCP! Haha, I had looked through there prior to making this thread, but must have missed it. I just set all subscriptions to notification "none" and watch the list as it grows. It even shows unread and read threads. All happy now
