A Crash Landed Space Freighter. I call it "The Beached Whale", It's a somewhat personal and telling piece for me currently. As my great aunt Stella has recently become stranded on Mars, after a unfortunate Inster-stellar Pleasure Cruise Incident.
I was thinking of adding some old canvas/fabric awnings built/hanging off the ship, as if someone was using it as a temporary dwelling Place. Please Enjoy.
Looking great! Good atmosphere.
Although I find the grass to be a little too crisp, I like that it has some depth to it. Are each of the blades of grass on a separate plane or did you do some other trickery? I really like to know as my grass looks too flat right now
Hey Truth - this is looking great! Im sorry to hear about your aunt, although Mars isnt the worst place she could be stranded on, i hear its quite pleasant this time of year.
-doubledope - Thanks for the crit, for the grass plant is just a simple model - Each blade is on a curved poly section. Attached an image below.
- Nerf Bat Ninja - Haha Awesome - and thanks Korax and Special K!
all jokes aside it's looking really sick dude, i think you could blend the grass with the sand a little better though, atm they look a little out of place
Thanks Illusive, blended plants more where they meet the sand, and updated with footsteps, blowing fabric, more glinty sand, and story elements, and I'm calling it done
It's not a huge impact here, but you could optimize the grass a bit more. Tweak the UV's a bit to get rid of transparent areas to reduce overdraw, and weld the top vertices together to save ONE WHOLE TRIANGLE per blade. Which in your scene amounts to diddly squat, but it's still a 12.5% savings on the grass.
