Was just skimming that thread, frell, title appears to be pretty debunked at this point. Also stoked to hear this is PC only and the ammount of discussion in their forums is very encouraging. Seems there's still a very strong mech warrior community out there!
Between this coming IP coming back and Tribes color me excited .
Curious to see how this stacks up against Hawken, there's certainly room for both with this one being more tactical.
I still wish they'd bring back Heavy Gear. My heart thumps when I jump into the cockpit of a Warrior class gear, although the Black Mamba and the Hunter were nice too.
First post on the right is "No! MechWarrior online is now pay 2 win "
So no thanks
If that's suggesting that you can buy a better setup, they've already stated that you can't, and that unlocks come from playing, not paying. It'll probably be "pay for more ammo reserves" or something commodity that allows you to buy more stuff, kinda like Forza 4's "buy car tokens" setup.

Dammit, man. Now I'm sad that my HG2 disc is scrapped.
I've found with F2P games, you have to be really irresponsible and loose with your cash to outspend what you'd pay for a traditional MMO. How about logging in and if you like it buy a traditional game's worth, $50, of in game currency and limit yourself to that.
about time they came out with some more news...it's been 2 years :P
....and another year-ish till it comes out :P
sounds good tho, cant wait!
anyone remember that battletech 3025 game ea never came out with in 2002?
the beta was so fun, and I'm still ticked thinking about it, hopefully this lives up to what that could have been
i was impressed, always hoped for some quality mech game to come out
still wip but u can see the going in the right way
That hawken game just strikes me as a fps with some metal bits tossed about the UI. I like the slow, lumbering feel of the Mechwarror kind of robots, really makes you feel like you're in a hundred ton walking warmachine.
Starting from just before the Clan Invasion of 3050, MWO will tell the story of the Battletech universe in real-time. Each day, players will do battle on behalf of the universe’s major factions, and each day in the game will represent a single day’s action in the fictional Inner Sphere.
reminds me of planetside.. I loved that feature of Planetside.. such an awesome game.

And Planetside's on its way back with big open worlds too... and will also be freemium... this is gonna be awesome! :poly142:

Kinda have to agree. Hawken is Unreal with a paint-job, nothing more (they're even using Unreal), and I get plenty of those games from Korea on any average day.
I was hoping for more unique elements in the game, such as the ability to sustain massive amount of damage, and at a certain treshold, for the player to start losing O2 levels in their cockpit, and either choosing to eject the bullet proof glass so they can breathe (making them 1 shot kills frontally), or keep on fighting while racing the clock.
Maybe also include the ability to lose your cannon, and bum-rush enemies instead pushing them down or disorienting them for you teammates, or you lose your UI, or hell, maybe your screen gets so damaged that you can't see anything.
There was so much potential from an indie perspective, that I'm surprised they didn't do anything like that, but instead amped up the particles to 11.
We'll see how Mech-Warrior does. If you can atleast lose a fucking arm mounted cannon in that game, then it's way ahead of the competition.

The Hawken devs said it was between Halo & Mechwarrior
idk a fast paced mech game is something I still havent seen.hawken is somewhat a slow paced mech game like Mechwarrior.I'd love to see a over the top mech game like they have in anime like Gundam
How much caffeine are you taking in that Hawken looks slow? XD
And I'm unsure how to take this news. The tech demo from way back looked impressive and pretty much how I imagined the real game would be. If it's the same but F2P then I'm cool with it as F2P has its benefits.
Hopefully the Net BattleTech league will jump on it (I'm sure they will). Playing MW4 mercs in that league was some of the most fun online gaming I've ever head and I'm sure it will transition over the the new game.
Well it's what a number one fan would do. Especially when the video I linked is my own. Kinda amusing.
On topic, I also have fond memories of Mech Warrior 4 because it was my first PC game. Well it was meant to be but the PC I had at the time was so crap and broken that it froze all the time. But when I finally got a PC that could run it, I was in love. My first mod I installed was for that game and it drove me crazy because it didn't work. After many attempts I found out you had to launch the game once but not fully and then install the mod or you had to reinstall.
One thing not mentioned and always bugged the hell out of me.
The eject button. Why have an eject button if you die anyways? The intro video they showed was more real in that the pilot parachuting down to the battlefield. I want that. To try to not be spotted as a bug to be squashed or fried by the enemy while at the same time trying to catch a ride by a passing hovertank to get back to the dropship for another mech.
So I can live to fight another day. Sure one mech less, but alive non the less.
(Speaking of hovertanks, I hope we get those as well to use.).
Also, maybe someway to tell who is using what to control their mechs. I liked using joysticks, but people with mice did have the advantage. To be able to setup battles with people using the same input to level the field would be great. So people like me who want the more real feeling of feedback and torso twisting can use a joystick without feeling outclassed to compete.

I was REALLY hoping that it would have that style from the teaser image. That just looks mehh, not bad, just not what i was hoping it would be from that first image.
there's a gdc interview on gametrailers with Russ from Piranha that shows some basic gameplay. It's all very lackluster compared to the concept art adorning the studio
ah I always find arena mech games a bit boring because you can only compare your mech with other equal mechs, I like to have some easy little enemies and some hard massive enemies but the thought of it being a level playing field is dull.

In a full 10v10 you will have mixed types of mechs (scout/medium/heavy and assault in one battle) they will all play their part. If you read up on the abilities of the smaller mechs giving bonuses to the heavier mechs (aka scouting, fire support, target acquisition ect) it means you will have allot of different match-ups going.
After see'ing the video it looks allot like other MW games, which imo ... is a good thing as most of them were pretty good. My only concern is with the Cryengine as all my experience with it (crysis + wars + Crysis 2) is it's appalling on-line play, bug ridden pile of laggy pants.
Aye playing a slugfest with people randomly traipsing about an arena can get tiresome, but when you have roles, which they are pushing with their role-warfare stuff, the game is vastly better. Used to play MW4 mercs in a league where tonnage would be limited, so people were generally in light/medium mechs, maybe a coupe of heavies, assaults very rare. Send out your scouts, try to get a good position etc. Really excited to see they are catering for that type of gameplay.
Well suppose I can talk about it now. Played it during the closed beta and it was enjoyable BUT I really really really dislike the hub thing. It loads this tiny window which is your garage / hub and for some reason it's not fullscreen so each match constantly switches between this small window and the fullscreen.
Also the game ran really poorly until I did some ini tweaks. Is this the norm now with PC games? Before it was really blurry on max settings, with my ini tweaks the image was sharper and it even ran better.
Otherwise my only complaint is each match doesn't feel personal enough. You just connect with random people, usually die and then wait around while watching the rest of your team die. Also lack of ambient sounds lets it down.
I can one better and link to the thread. Well it seems the beta section of the forum is gone or closed but I did find this thread. They mention the use of CFG and it's a little technical, you have to read it really. It took me about 10 mins to figure it out cause they have different settings to suit each persons PC.

I'm not sure about the free to play, pay to pimp methodology. Will see. I would have rather payed for a standalone personally.
Oh and up for a polycount clan.

This is more Mechwarrior speed. Given, they are heavy mechs.

Always thought MW3 had a good heavy feel to it.

I was thinking the same thing.
Zoe2 was awesome

Mechwarrior 2 however...... LOVED NETMECHING and it has a better 'mass' feel to it as well
Things work differently for those of us who take orders from Col. Jaime Wolf.
