Windows 7: Thumbnails won't show

I use xnview for most of my image work however I need to view image thumbnails in windows explorer if i'm loading an alpha in zbrush etc. Thumbnails have never displayed for me in windows 7 (64bit home edition) and upon searching this problem many people have had it and the solution seems to be to check the box 'show thumbnails instead of icons' in the folder options/system performance settings which hasn't done anything

Does anyone else have this problem?

All thumbs or just not TGA, PSD, DDS ?
If the latter, get MysticThumbs.

All thumbs for all files even basic jpegs. Thanks i'll check out mystic thumbs just curious if anyone else has this problem and why it seems to be quite common.

windows has never displayed tga previews, psd preview support seems to have been dropped in win 7.
There is an option to turn on thumbnails in win 7 , but as I say suppoort for various formats is sketchy to say the least

scourgewarper Perhaps you have checked in folder options "Always show icons, never thumbnails" just uncheck it, I had similar problem once windows for some reason checked this option for me

Mystic Thumbs is so much win, it has preview for almost everything.Worked like a charm here for years

The free version of MysticThumbs is still available aswell, as I found whilst trawling the web to setup my new works machine last week...

If you have the trial of MysticThumbs, make sure you register before the trial runs out, else you will be left with no thumbnail functinality, and no idea why, until the full facepalm moment hits!

Arahnoid that's weird I don't have that option or the 'always show menus' option in my advanced folder options?!? I have yamicsoft windows manager installed so gonna uninstall and see if that's the cause but it's odd those 2 top options options are missing.

scourgewarper This setting are not in folder options (actually this is may bad, sorry for this) them are available in explorer options. Press Alt and will appear explorer menu then select Tools -> Folder options...

Cheers I restarted and for some reason the option is there now - not sure what happened but the thumbnails show up fine now thx
