Finally going to make a sketchbook thread! I'm pretty terrible with keeping a real, paper sketchbook, so I thought I should at least try to keep a digital one. Critiques would be quite awesome.

I'll start with some photo studies I've done recently (photos from flickr, deviantart, or reddit.)














Some 30 second poses from posemaniacs, which were more difficult than I thought they'd be. I need some better line economy.

A sword model I made a few weeks ago. Looking back on it I think I should probably do a little more work on the handle and pommel.

Really good stuff! I think the way you handled the heat distortion is interesting, if not necessarily entirely successful. The studies are all cool, but the top two are the best by far, much more interesting use of detail and simplification in them.

very nice sword. i love the 30 second poses too, those are really difficult to pull off, posemaniacs does wonders to your lines and flow though, so keep it up

I haven't quite kept up with this as I hoped, but also haven't drawn as much as I wanted lately either. So not very much to show on this update. @_@ Thanks everyone for the comments! And Suprore, I agree, I wasn't really sure how to do the heat distortion. It looked a lot like one of the photoshop filters in the photo, so I tried it, but I couldn't really get it to look exact.

Anyway, been working on a sci fi ship model. I started it a long time ago, but I've remodeled almost everything and still need to fix some things on the design, like the wings need more love. Still have a ways to go. It's making me a bit crazy.

And doing some random doodles and some more 30seconds poses on breaks.. It's starting to feel a little therapeutic.

I like the gestures! More! The crouching one on the top right is a standout. I have the same problem, but: Work on planting those feet!

More 30 second poses... focused on the feet in the second one when I could. I'll probably just have to give myself more time on the timer to focus on a specific part next time. @_@

It's been a while! Been playing Skyrim too so... I've been slow. I finally went to do some real life drawing though, and I can't wait to go again. I feel so rusty.
