Working on a senior project with a couple of friends. This is for a side scroll metroidvania type game. I dont have any 3D work to post today. But I do have a little bit of environment detail in which we will be able to use on a flat plane. These plants here can be useful for lighting otherwise darkened areas. These would go nicely hanging from the vines in the environment. I will have more ready tomorrow.

So roughly you are going for a vine (money plant like plants) plant approach and these blue flowers are the source of light. Interesting.

its ok if you dont have the full concept laid out, you can just roughly tell us what you are going for when you have 3d stuff ready.

That was quick. I know you're good at zbrush so I think taking a quick pass with some of the built in sculpt geometry tools in Maya would help you out. Maybe teacher can chime in but would the pole on the nose from starting with a sphere morph ok? Great job on your speed though, these will work for getting our placeholders in.

We might be able to do the jujucrab's fin as an alpha-mapped 2d plane, though I guess it's not a huge deal. Just a thought.

A placeholder for background vines. This will be especially useful for areas where we don't necessarily want to actually draw more vines, or areas where we'd want the vines to pop out a bit more.

Whoa, that vine is way too complex for an environment prop. Simplify the silhouette and flesh out the detail with a normal map. That thing is going to eat processing cycles like candy. Even as just a place holder, it's going to slow the game down and thus eat up your time. Place holders should start out as simple object that symbolize the completed asset rather than go to full detail right off the bat. Look up "white box" levels.
