Hello all,
I've been invited to the yearly festival of nerdiness;
MAGFest that takes place near Washington DC and in the first week of January 2012.
What that means is we have the chance to do some panels, perhaps some talks, portfolio reviews perhaps.... whatever we'd like. I'd like to invite you all of course to come and have a bit of fun with me. It could be a Poly-Con for polycounters. What would you like to see? I'm totally open for suggestions. My deadline to them is Halloween for telling them what we'd like to do. So think about it and give us some thoughts.

I do yearly panels at local conventions on getting into the game industry, so maybe something like that?
It would be nice to see who would be able to make it out there. Depending on who is going maybe there can be some zbrush demos or texturing demos. I'm not sure if the PC crowd would want to sit through some workshops during Magfest though.
I'll always be upfor portfolio reviews.
...Maybe this year I'll actually help out. :x
I'll pitch in to help cover cost.
Haaaahahahahah. *ahem* I mean, I'm sure you will!
I'll be done with school by then, and I'm a bus trip away. I'd be down for organizing something.
I've been putting together a presentation for green/aspiring game developers as to what they can expect, based on personal experiences and discussions with other professionals. More along the lines of "this is the mindset you need to get into, this is the work expected of you, these are the typical paths you can take, etc." This was originally developed for my alumni, but is easily adapted for something like this... if there's any interest. I'm not sure the professional to aspiring professional ratio we'll see at Magfest, but from what I've gathered about the event, it's typically gamers and music lovers.
Other than that... I'll move as many arcade cabinets as needed this year... PROMISE!
live tutorials you say...
(Im just trying to make myself feel better)
Don't know if I'd be able to contribute much other than just general volunteer stuff, but I'd love to help out if needed. And yea, I'd be particularly interested in some portfolio action.
I'll DJ in the lobby....?
Unfortunately, my baby is due beginning of December, so I seriously doubt I'll be able to swing that. Unless we integrated him into the show, perhaps as some sort of greentooth-headed baby body'd mascot.
Or, I'll make Cody carry around a picture of my head on a stick or something.
I'd rather almost just have a big lounge space set aside as the polycount spot as a place for people to connect, chat, bullshit, etc etc. Sorta like this place... doing some informal portfolio reviews would be easier that way too...
nothing decided, just pondering.
I doubt we'll need to have anyone volunteer unless you do it directly thru the magfest folks. You could totally sign up for that and say you want to help with the polycounters... whatever that means... muhahaha.
I owe it to Paul to volunteer this year... 'cause I was a slacker last year!
Either way, I'm down for whatever.
Damn right! Back in the days when I had hair.... and colored it oddly.
