My metallic texture looks to much like plastic

Hi im new here, so here is my problem i got a mech model but the textures on the mech look like plastic so i need some help

One of your links was a facebook link and won't work

And your dropbox link point to your account url's. You should use the public link instead.

I think a key to creating good metal is your specular maps, so you may want to post them as well. Also take a look around:

Not quite related to the metal, but the mesh seems to have a discontinuity angle of 0 which is causing every face to stand out on its own, and the normals don't quite seem to be working right as well.

but ya you should pull out the noise and scratches from the normal map, and work on you specular and gloss.

i found all of Philip's tuts to be very useful when i started to learn how to get good material definition in my textures.

thanks for the big help, about the broken links is there any way to fix this. i can see the image

i think your trying to link files that aren't in your dropbox public folder, if i manually enter the urls i get the dropbox 403 error and it asks me to login.

im assuming you can see it fine since your are already logged into dropbox and the files are only viewable from your account.

still not showing. To publically share images they MUST MUST MUST be in or in a subfolder of "my dropbox/public/" if you're running the shell extension (default dropbox install) you should be able to right click the file and select "dropbox-> copy public link"

If that option is not there under the dropbox portion of the rightclick menu, then the file is not publically viewable.
