Hello Polycount,
I'm promoting my level design project today, cp_zinkenite (3 stage/dustbowl-esque). I hope it's not too forward to make a new thread about this instead of posting in the tf2 items thread, but this is a major release and represents a significant amount of effort and environment work, + time spent in testing. For this reason I felt it deserved a solo thread.
Here's a plot synopsis:
"Deep in the Northwestern wilderness, the Reliable Excavation and Demolition company has discovered a veritable treasure trove of a rare variety of piezoelectric crystal: zinkenite! The Builders League United, not to be outdone by their rivals, set forth into this wild expanse in hopes of claiming rights to this new-found wonder--by any means necessary!"

Zinkenite has been rigorously tested and tweaked for months in the hopes of adding to the fun and invigorating gameplay of TF2, as well as a unique and (hopefully!) pleasing new visual style to the TF2 table.

Currently cp_zinkenite is in beta 2. I would love to hear from the TF2 about any concerns or suggestions; please feel free to post in the thread, send me PMs, or contact me at

Thanks! I hope you have fun in Zinkenite Valley!

really loving your rock texture.
was it composed in zbrush with sculpted ztool's
If you're referring to the world textures (the brush based ones), they were 3d reliefs that tiled, baked onto a normal map, and then the normal map was used in combination with a light rig render I built to process the normal map into an ssbump texture. I didn't use zbrush in this case.

... The most played maps I've seen are all un-implemented.
