I've got some problems in maya ever since I got a new pc. They're driving me crazy. My symptoms:
-Vert snapping is hella slow. If the scene's heavy, it takes 30sec-1min to respond. I'm having to curve snap everything.
-Face and edge selection is buggy. Sometimes it behaves like camera based selection is on. (When it's not.) I'll marquee select a bunch of faces and it will skip over little faces/edges or ones that are perfectly on edge with the camera.
I've updated my graphics driver through multiple iterations with no luck. I also have the service pack for maya 2009 installed.
I never even realized there are "certified" cards for maya until recently, but I know my last pc didn't have a certified card either.
I'm assuming I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a new card. Any insight would be great.

As for certified cards, from what I heard they are mostly for heavy archviz models (unoptimized geo and odd textures). For game art it would make more sense to get a rather recent gaming card. Therefore a safe bet would be to opt for last year's Nvidia.
Maybe in Maya. But Max, the Nvidia drivers suck. At least on the Optimus line. The model "pop" around screen when you try to turn it. I even got an Nvidia rep to agree with me after I showed him. My ATI 4830? No issues.
This is why I'm scared to just drop some cash on a new one! Who's to say the one I pick won't have a different set of problems?! If anyone can undoubtedly recommend a solid maya card (PCI Express 2.0 x16) I would appreciate it!
Is autodesk to blame for all these issues, or does it fall on the card manufacturers?
Nvidia 460/560TI are common cards these days.
I'll give that a shot! I hate that thing anyway.
EDIT: Didn't work
they take shortcuts on the drivers for the consumer and make you "pay" for the professional versions.

Objections?
Edit: Asus ordered. It came with an Arkham City coupon too!
