3d max acting slow

Hey guys,
wanted to get some suggestions if I could.
I started a new job and a new PC. Someone elses
Anyways seems to running slow on everything drawing a box take even a few seconds.
Running a Xeon quad core and 3 hard drives. 2 160gb and 1 TB each at 7200 rpm
and a Nvidia Quadro Fx 3500 and i cant figure out why this thing is chuggin.
The drive are at like 80 and 90 percent full but should that matter so much
And I thought about getting the 2 small drives just down to OS and Software what do you guys suggest
