I came upon Spartacus well after it originally aired. Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop. I had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn't think I'd care so much about the characters so quickly. Great performance by a very talented actor. It's sad to see him go.
Man, that sucks. I loved the series, and it just won't be the same without him. Having seen the effects of cancer first hand on a number of occasions, whether they recover or not, it's something that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
If you think that sucks I hope you never have to go through it with a friend or a relative. Very sad to see another young man go... Lesson to learn: life is simply indifferent to our struggles, so try to make the most of it and don't wait for anything else to take care of stuff for you.

And, fuck you cancer.
Just over a year ago he did this awesome short around the time the news came out that he left Spartacus due to the cancer;

He was one of the fittest and in shape 39 year olds I had ever seen.
Cancer sucks.
