Hey all! Today I received an art test from a studio in Austin, TX. The concept has some very vague shapes and lines in it, the sense of scale seems ambiguous. The instructions said not to worry about the ground or the sky. I get a remote self sustaining dessert home feeling from the image, like something that could be on tatooine. I'm really kind of unsure what the best material would be for the shade structure but I feel like it would be cool if it was some kind of futuristic solar panel over the home. I did a quick color test over the image. If anyone has ever seen anything like this IRL and can be of some help, or has tips or suggestions please let me know!

(for what it's work i think you're on to the right lines and your paintover looks good. look for clues for scale if there's no people - door and windows are a great example and there's some of both in the image. your ref of the water/gas bottles already shows you've thought about the image and what its showing and you can inform the scale from them imo)
Agreed, they might not want you to ask for help in a forum, since it's your test and you should be able to it without any help.
But if they are cool with you posting it, then no harm
Nice job with the paintover, I like the color palette, so keep telling us how it goes.
