the textures need some work. can you post the references that you are basing these materials on? if you can do that, i'll post some nice crits for you tomorrow.
good work on the engravings, even though it's just going to turn into noise and be lost at lower resolutions.
the model seems fine. watch out for your poly usage though on some of the rounded parts; you can see a fair bit of blockiness at the front edge of the slide and where the ejector port meets the slide. silhouettes are the most important part of the low poly process and you should always put extra effort in making sure round parts are round.
thanx for the feedback, maps size is 4096, model is about 5k
about the edges, yea i noticed that after i posted the render and i fixed it right away
and for the engraving (done with normal maps, thanx for the help on the thread in technical talk, helped alot) i knew it would look like noise when scaling down but it looks so good i had to keep it,
i also planing on doing more variations of colors and engravings later on but now im feel the mp5 i did need more love
ill open a thread for it too
ill replaced the render with a new fixed one and post more pics later
fuck man, are you serious?!
I've been really scared lately as i've lost some important files in the past.
I feel like everytime i make a new file i need to send it to a backup.
I accidentally kicked the plug from my computer about 10 minutes ago on a prop i've been working on for over 40 hours. If i lost it i would lose my mind.
The gun looks amazing from what you had. Very sorry again that you lost it. :[
Awesome details, don't know if someone has pointed out already but the serial/code # on the right side of the gun is backwards :poly121:, keep up the good work.
Hope it helps, and sorry to hear this man. I know how this kind of thing hurts our moral, and more with Zbrush files. I wanted to have more pics for my ref folder cuz i love how you did this gun.
BTW, i updated PS cs3 recently to cs5 because i was bored of the constant crashes in Vista and all the loss of work as result.
If this file is totally hosed, you could try right-clicking on the file and going to "properties" in Windows Explorer, then flip over to the "Previous Versions" tab. If you have system restore enabled on your computer, there might be a backup listed there that you can restore from.
I tend to work inside a Dropbox folder myself. It's saved my bacon plenty of times.
This little app has saved my ass several times, try it. Luckily you should be able to recover most data. Works better than most other programs, it dumps all the layer info it finds in 32-bit PNGs.

Looks very nice as is, sucks that you won't be able to continue tweaking.

It's used through commandline.
