I have a contract job looming that involves consulting work for refining the character development pipeline for a client's proprietary game development toolkit. What they have is very outdated, and needs to be brought up to industry standards for commercial and government market appeal.
Topics to be addressed range from adopting a character model format, integration issues, animation support, optimization, shader support and data methods for keyframe and audio triggers. Pretty much the entire spectrum of the character development pipeline from a technical artist's perspective.
I have worked on plenty of asset based contract jobs, but never had to price anything of this nature. This could also lead in to a full time technical artist position with this company.
So my question - what would the hourly fee range be for technical artist consulting work of this nature?

Like freelance contract work.
Make sure to write contracts so that both partners know what they will get out of this deal.
I have no experience with this myself, but that's my suggestion at least.
