I think it would be really interesting to see a little bit more history behind this character, maybe to see their battle wounds, or scratches along the carapace of this creature.
I think it has a really interesting silhouette but maybe it could be pushed a little more in the joints, or along the spine?
Second ever painting, for some reason when I uploaded it to photobucket it bumped up the saturation like crazy and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.
an update on a wip I'm doing for myself. Posted one of the previous iterations on the WAYWO thread a while ago. thought I would post the most recent version here.
Hey looking good, on that last one - unless she's supposed to have an unusually long nose, I'd lower the eyes a bit while simultaneously raising the nose a small amount. Nose looks pretty huge right now. Almost like one of those old world monkeys whose name escapes me at the moment.

Proboscis monkeys I think.... Thanks for the tip, I was trying to tilt her head down while having her fixing her eyes on the viewer. But it's an angle I'm still unfamiliar with so it messed up the proportions a bit. While she is supposed to have a strong nose I agree it seems too long, so I'll tweak it a bit.
Thanks again!
Your more recent posts show some development, good job, keep going! It may be worth it to check out Paul Richards' site/blog, as he's got a lot of talent/skill as well as various tips and tricks for concept artists looking to get better and into the industry.
This is a concept for a creature that I've been working on and this is still very wip. Any Critique is welcome.
Long ago and far away: two hunters poached a once lush land of forests and lakes. Hidden behind their masks, the hunters trapped and killed all the creatures within reach in the name of money for their purses and food in their bellies. All who chose to stand against them were murdered. Even after their deaths, the men's spirits remained in their hunting masks. Centuries of left over hatred, greed, and bloodshed took form in the now silent forest and the poison elemental was born. As the years went on voices whispered about a great hunter of men. A murderous shadow stalked the world wrapped in the sown together skins of its victims with only a whispered name left in its wake: "Hamaka". As Hamaka belched noxious gas upon everything it found and bled acid upon all who mustered the courage to face it, thet monster slowly came to understand its true mission in life. The mass of writhing worms that compose Hamaka's form bear their grinning face up front, though they have no head to speak of, and keep their beautiful second mask of power hidden within themselves. Acting with a dark collective intelligence, Hamaka hopes to one day surpass the work of the masters whose spirits had given it form and purpose.
I needed to get better at material definition, so here's a quick materials study. From left to right: Grass, Steel, Colored glass. Each cube took about 10 minutes

Started painting this monster face. I'm still not so comfortable with paint or color so any criticism is appreciated.
First are some sword concepts.

Thanks again!
Fair forewarning, a lot of Paul's work is NSFW.

These are some soldier concepts I did for an indie mod game.
A Sketch I did a while ago but never really put up anywhere. So I thought I'd put it up here.

Whenever I don't know what to draw, I draw robots.
