When I was doing the drawing as well as the inking for this latest one I was looking a lot at the work of Todd McFarlane for inspiration. I just love how crisp, detailed, and extreme his art is. When it comes to character art and drawing I tend to be more inspired by veteran comic book artists than concept artists who work on games and what not. Just a personal preference.
I like to give myself free reign to add as much detail as possible and also like to give myself permission to even make up anatomy and what not. It just feels right for me and usually produces better results.
Sometimes I'll add too much detail in certain areas to the point where it throws off the composition of the entire thing, the eye doesn't know what to look at... so I then have to go back and remove detail to balance it out, which I don't like doing but oh well
Especially when drawing I want to make the strokes as brisk and confident as possible and less chicken-strokes. It just makes it more slick and also gives it a bit of stylized look sometimes.
Overall it's mostly just general things though like truly enjoying the process, not thinking too much, and not trying to force the work to be a certain way, just diving into it and going crazy.
