Envelope Cages in Maya

Hi all, I've made some bakes in Max, and textured my asset completely, now I need to step back and redo the bake inside of Maya.

Only problem is, the cage I used for my bake in Max was very specific, and I want to be able to import this as an OBJ and use it as the envelope in Maya....question basically, is this possible?

(Yes I could obviously redo the cage, but then the normals/AO won't line up with my texture work... hard to explain).

Thanks guys. :)

It may be possible to generate the cage using Transfer Maps, and swap that out with yours, though I've never tried it. Just be sure that the vertex index is maintained between the export process.

For the most part, the auto cages work just fine in Maya, it doesn't do ray bending, it's just a search limiter.

Thanks, but how can I load my obj as the envelope?

In the transfer maps dialogue, have your envelope mesh and your low poly model selected, add them to the target group, then right click on the envelope mesh in the target surfaces list. There should be an option to use it as an envelope there.

Make sure you don't have 'delete envelopes after bake' option checked :)
