My Maya 2011 has suddenly become almost unusably slow when selecting UVs. A selection of a few uvs on a 2000 poly object freshly imported into a new the scene from an OBJ will take upwards of 3 seconds to select. I've tested it on a number of objects including models that I've UVed on this computer in the past with no issues, so it seems to be something wrong with Maya itself.

I thought maybe it could be some odd driver issue, but updating the graphic card drivers didn't solve anything.

I can't seem to find any instances of anyone having similar problems on the interwebs beyond newbies failing to clear the history.

I'm not sure what else to try at this point.

Yeah, my suggestions you already mentioned, history is the usual culprit. Do they move/scale/etc fine, or is that slow too?

Taking a some stabs from previous issues here, but I know it's better than no replies.
UV window floating or in a panel?
Change resolution? There was an old maya/ati driver issue with screen res not being a power of 4 (I had to go to a 4:3 res to UV at the time.)
Fiddle with display options in the UV window? Texture or UV shade on/off.
Maybe try resetting prefs, or reinstalling as a last resort.

maybe it has something to do with fonts, i remember a buddy of mine who was working on a mac. There was something with his fonts that slowed down everything. Dont know a lot about it anymore. But maybe this direction opens new doors. Re installing sounds like a good idea as well.
