Newest update: Slowly starting to create the high poly mesh in 3DsMax. Still have a long way to...
...
Hi guys, I'm working on a model of a girl I saw in starbucks who really caught my eye. I don't know why but to me, she really stood out in the crowd.
Unfortunately, I was so hurried to begin 3D modeling that I didn't make a modelsheet, or even make an attempt at a good drawing since I can still see her clearly in my mind's eye. And I was really lazy.
Will keep updating. I'm hoping to zbrush some detail into her shortly!
And give you guys a clear picture
unlike this and
this
I'm trying get a slightly cartoony feel: think disney + the incredibles + gorillaz influence.

^ this! Be a man!
And special thanks to Tyler who's the first to realise I'm female!
I'd like to, by the way, add that I found her intrigueing, but I don't think I'll be jumping on her any day soon.
Now I kind of wish I was a dude, so that all these supportive comments wouldn't go to waste :"D Thank you again!
- You may proceed here.
now on a serious note:
Can't really say much about the current step except to push the curves if you're going for cartoony. Imo like i said earlier it would be a lot easier to tackle the cloth and shoes as separate meshes.
anywho keep it up!!!
Zbrush update! I'm not sure how I should do those eyes
raven: Mr Powers, only problem I have so far are those ugly belts. I think I'll just add them later in max.
edit: and those shoes...
You should nail down the style a little more, as the Incredibles and Gorillaz seem to be conflicting.
This is just a testbake to test my laptop's rendering; still need to add detail and (ofc) tweak the cage.
Played with the proportions, think I'll start making the high-poly boots and details in max now.
I think I'm gonna go more for The Incredibles than the Gorillaz.
Looking great so far, I love it!
Boyso: Thank you! :]
makecg: I just had to lol at that :'D
you have some great painting skills but you chose to neglect them.
You ask for critique, i do an overpaint and say you need to work the curves in order for it to be more appealing to the eyes and you whipe it off as not being the style you're looking for because you'd have to go back and start adjusting things at the base level. (kben ne blijter )
I'm only saying this because i know where you want to be and i know what you're capable of if you put some more effort into it, i learned the most from the people that bitch the most on what i do so i'm trying that now :P
Thanks ravenflayer. En die paint-over blijft lelijk.
But on the other hand, the design and details could do with some more effort, as culd the sculpt. Like garriola said, it's waxy and all over the place. I also have to say the face lacks that real charming character you'd want in something like this.
also i never said "DO IT MY WAY" to be clear. I just suggested stuff and said this is how i would approach it.
charlotte you go girl * ^_^ * <-pompons
Curves in all the right places. It still looks sufficiently stylized without pushing into the uncanny valley too much, especially those hands and feet, and oval eyes. ik vind die paint-over well goed.
As for concept - I'd make hips broader, not very feminine right now.
shaping up nicely charly, keep that eye candy coming
I don't want to go too hour-glass-shaped, I think (I can only think of )disney(right now) is slowly killing off cartoons by always using the same gender shapes and I want to step back from the cliche female hourglass and male triangle look.
I think I will up the hip though, her torso's looking just a tad long and I think it's contributing to her ++male factor.
maVCArt: Thanks, hope to update soon. Starbucks: Antwerp or Brussels. Just tag along with one of your shopping female friends!
wait let me get this straight.. the person you saw at starbucks was wearing a corset, jesus cross, dress, a jean jacket, turtle neck sweater, 3 belts,
- nvm thats normal.
Agree the squary-pointy wide shoulders and small hips might prove a problem if you want her feminine, but I can't think of solutions other than the clich
makecg: I might have added the upsidedown cross
And the 'corset' detail to make the skirt interesting. It's by the way not a corset but a high-rise skirt. They're becoming very "in" again these days
Highelf: Thanks, hopefully it won't take toooooo long. Gotta start searching. How's your hunt goin'?
daphz: Good point, will do! Thanks. :]
(FUCK YEAH DAE!)
Low poly base mesh. Tomorrow I'll start detaching and adding polys to get it ready for zbrush.
I wonder what will come out from this, proceed.
Have started detaching and making the high-poly in 3Dsmax. Will work out the kinks and add surface detail in zbrush afterwards.
Still have to make a lot of the detail in 3DsMax, redo the hands, etc etc etc.
