I had a thought about the current freelancing market. I have noticed that almost all (in my case) are indi developers of some sort and they all ask for 3D art for an almost insultingly low pay.
If they dont want to pay full price for the work you put down, do you think they would agree to let the artist keep the re-sell rights and put them at sites like turbosquid?
Would'nt that be more fair, and would it be worth it in the long run?

You create that then re-sell the main character It kind of defeats the purpose of having him be a custom character in his own world. Here you go selling It then he's anywhere & everywhere someone wants him to be, say in a safari game lassoing lion's in the Serengeti.
I agree though the payments for characters is slowly being brought down, until we all set a standard and all agree to keep It above that number no matter what we will be abused at any turn.
What about generic stuff like environment art, that can be re-used in a number of ways without it being obvious?
Shaper: You can't tell what they will do with what you give them especially if you give them parts of models that can be interchangeable they will always find a way to make what they already have appear as something new when It isn't, you can't change or really blame them for that because well It's smart if you where on their end.
Not that I would condone or respect them for It, they run on if It saves them money do It.
I've seen some shady shit go down and I was pissed but you have to keep your mouth shut otherwise It's hit the road jack - we do things our way, then the attitude of - if your not with us your against us, not to that extreme but you should get the idea, hopefully.
Your kind of out of luck really cause It's the if you don't do It someone else will attitude that will be taken if you upscale your price, the industry and freelance sectors are becoming ridiculous and I am about to find a way either to change It all or give this up as a source of income, It's getting bad all around & It's not just about the numerous studio's closing either.
To much talent out of work to many kids/new comers and they have no where to go what do you think their next moves are? Re-applying or trying to Freelance & Indie most likely.
