Hi guys, I'm writing a 3D game and wanted to do all aspects of the process myself so I decided to learn how to model and animate my characters. I've only been learning to model for a couple of days so don't be too hard on me! Any constructive criticism would be great! I'm trying to keep it reasonably low poly....:
benhacking, please show us wireframe of that guys to check if there is correct topology for bending. Tell us how many tris does he has.
Also I always model character with legs together and not in so wide position, because I think in original position he will be a bit higher when you will finish to rig him.
otherwise good job!
cheers
Thanks for your reply! I'm using triangles and quads, is it bad to use both?
my vertex count is: 1244
edge count: 2553
face count: 1306 (so roughly double this for the triangles as I've got less than 20 triangles)
triangle estimation ~2600
as for the pose of the character, I should probably use a T pose in future, but this will be the standing pose of the character so I don't think i'll come into any problems with the height.
also i'm just wondering how i would go about rigging the sword? Do i want to simply position it with the hand and have it move with the two hands holding it, or do i want to attach the vertices of the sword handle to the palm of the hand itself in edit mode?

thanks for any advice!
you should keep the swort as separate object and parent it to the right hand bone (if right handed of course .. so you could change weapons later.
