It's basically a compilation put together of all the great info he posts on his fantastic blog (http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/)
http://www.huevaluechroma.com/ by Briggsy Ashton is also a great site for colour theory but if you're just starting out you might want to save this site until later.
Colour theory is a tricky thing, I guess you could say it's a bit like composition in that regard. It's not something you can 'read up on' and then know it. It's a confidence and knowledge youll have to spend years to develop.
... And temperature. Cold / warm. Contrast.
Now, go deconstruct colors yourself. It's really not that hard or clandestine knowledge. It takes a life time but you don't need anything else than this to get started experimenting on your own.
the way colour pigments mix and paint works is interesting, and has been quite beneficial for my own workflow so far.
pretty awesome for creating various types of palletes. not heavy on the info but good for a visual example of color theory.
Amazing palettes, awesome blog, good info, nice community. I think Adobe snagged the idea awhile back with Kuler, but was never able to really pull it off like Colour Lovers.

Definitely read up as much as you can in Pixar. Those guy don't spend several years animation something just to make it worthless, which is incidentally, their motto.
Itten: The Elements of Color [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Itten-Elements-Color-Johannes/dp/B000K10XSS[/ame] was the main reference during the whole talk. I HIGHLY recommend it.
quoted for truth!
Not only is it a good instructional book but it's full of great art as well.
That book is amazing Poop pointed me towards that about 8 years ago. Absolutely changed my whole thinking about color and contrast.
