Time to draw! Has been a while since I've done some serious drawing and studying, no more laziness! Going to update this every Monday with sketches from the week.
Wanted to do a few more snakes to get more comfortable with their skull shape, and layout of scales, as well as muscles in their bodies. mildly successful! Wanted to do some turtles, they look like dragons and dinosaurs! rarrwwrrrrrrr
fun stuff!! This coming week will be a few more turtles (fill in that last page), then maybe iguanas, komodo dragons, stuff like that! Still want to learn more about birds, fish, gorillas, monkeys, apes, cats, cows.... !
thanks everyone!!! Appreciate the comments and feedback :poly106:
Marlfox: thanks for askin! Not exactly a planned project, but wanting to study cool looking animals and creatures that inspire us to make cooler monsters, and learn something at the same time (like that pangolin are mammals). The main goal is so that when I start designing and drawing the creatures in my head, I can do so more accurately and make them more believable by including stuff studied in real world examples. That, plus pure inspiration for new creature designs & ideas!! check this cool guy
thanks man They're done in my moleskin sketchbook, so about 8" x 5.5" per page. I was working larger, but wanted to pull in to work smaller for a while. May get a big pad again - but i love the smooth surface & super thick pages moleskins offer.
the figure stuff is a mix, but i mostly like to use charcoal pencils & vine charcoal. The quick gestures i do in graphite w/ a soft pencil. the animal stuff is a plain BIC mechanical #2 pencil.
