Well, as long as we're showing insect models. I'm going to be redoing the "Mini-insect" model from Mj-12. I order to use the same skeleton and animations, I need to stay pretty close in dimensions to the original, but I can bring the model closer to the original design as well; which is great.
Here is the [1st pass] model with it's run anim:

And here is me redoing the high poly model, Next step is Zbrush! I'm all loopy from anesthetic today, so it's going to be REALLY fun to zbrush this thing.

Looks awesome so far man!
That said, if it was 2000 times bigger, I'd be shitting in my pants.
So, here is the second insect I am redoing, again, needs to fit the skeleton so my animation and rigging work is not wasted. In the meantime, I'll be doing retopo on the mini-insect , then UV/Baking.

Here is the base mesh I made, which will then go to zbrush for sculpting:
Note: I did change the head completely so it matches the mini-insect better. I was considering putting the "zerg/predator-like" facial features on this one, but I don't think it needs it.
I have like 7 or 8 models I need to do in this series.
Alphavader: Rigging generally takes a day or so, including vertex weighting. Sometimes just a few hours.
Model is roughly ~2000 polys.
Redo of insect soldier. I've just created the new base-mesh for sculpting:
Thanks for the comments all, more pprogress shots will be posted as I continue to redo these models.
that character exists in one of the later Mj-12 levels, and was a mid-boss. That particular level has you running along the back of a giant space snake/monster while it devours planets , so since this guy was a mini/mid boss, we decided to make him a smaller snake style enemy originally.
It worked alright, and even though some of the animations looked great, I opted for making it match the other enemies more; just made more sense, and I think I can make him more dangerous and menacing this way.
