I'm making a quick indie xbla game with some old friends of mine. I'm a rigger/animator by trade (modeling/texturing isn't usually my thing) so I could really use some advice on the character art/design. Also I'm the only artist on the team so I'm really thirsty for any feedback.
The game is a side-scroller so I'm primarily looking at how the characters look from the side. I want to go for a diffuse/painted look since I don't know how much shader work I'll be able to get out of my programers. The camera is pulled back pretty far, these mobs will be about 100-150ish pixels tall. This means they have to be pretty pushed in order to read well.
Here are the first 3 mobs in the game. Thanks polycount!

I like them a lot, though.
Case the Camels legs are way too thick - i think you could exagerate them to be quite skinny to get a good stylized feel.
Lt. Buzzards wings needs some definition. Maybe a Similar shading to the feathers around his neck. - just to pop out those wings!
Armordillos's texture could use some more love. Get a slight specular on the shell similar to the buzzards beak.
Cool man!
