I think you're off to a good start, but you might want to examine the ears again. Right now something just aint sitting right. I think they might be too far back on the skull. Also the jaw feels like it might be jutting out a bit too much. Maybe a a side shot would help clarify things more.
The back of the head is too flat, round it up a littleby pushing it back and defining the end of the neck.
Ears are missing the front portions, and they are too small. Try resizing them and bringing them a bit forth, and ofcourse make the front portion of the ear.

could you draw some lines so i would know just about how much, and what you mean by the front portions?
Check your sternomastoid, it should connect pretty close to the ear and it looks like you have if going under the jaw. Great start way better than mine!
