So my tower is Fubar'ed by a dead mobo. Been that way since early may. I want to fix it up when I go back to college in sept.
I wanted to Crossfire my 4770 HDs but wanted to know what kind of mobo to get.
I did a basic google search for compatible mobos and got this 1 hit
ASUS P6T Deluxe
not really sure if it's the best. I'm not looking to overclock any
My other parts are
Intel Core i7-950
CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
1.5 terabyte harddrive
750 watt psu
I'm Crossfiring to save money and hopefully get a fairly decent station to install maya and zbrush since my new laptop still ain't good enough. plus for games and music and other stuff, hence the 1.5 tb harddrive
Planning to buy and assemble around mid-august
Thankyou PC

If so, sell them on ebay and buy 1 decent nvidia card
If not, do not waste your time. Xfire/SLI will not give you any benefit in 3d apps etc, and more likely than not cause compatibility issues.
what do u think about a
Radeon HD 6870 1GB
You can probably get a faster ati card for cheaper, but its not worth the hassle.
ATi isn't partners with nVidia so they get alot of penalties as far as such areas are concerned.
If you're gaming + working as I am, SLI is okay. I'm running 2x250GTS cards and it works great in and out of games.
The mobo I bought is an ASUS P8P67 Pro rev.3 board. It's compatible with i5/i7 chips, supports up to 32GB of memory, has SATA 6GB, USB3, bluetooth, supports SLI/Crossfire and a lot of other neat shit. Good board, costs around $150 or so?
If your computer runs ok for work despite your SLI setup, thats sort of another thing entirely. =P
Like EQ said get nVidia card
I think 460/560 will do for you...
So you use it work/gaming too
