I stared my adventure with UDK yesterday. I wanted to create a scene that will look like Rage-ish pump station on the desert. A bit like Mad Max
I used stock UDK meshes, maybe later I'll make some own meshes, we'll see
This is an outdoor scene, in my plan there will be a second scene (indoor - warehouse/garage).

I think you could use better value separation between the walls and grounds.
On the ground I think you could rework that and get a better texture. It's not reading that great.
Thinner cables up top.
More of the blue accent color would be cool too.
All in all though great scene.
The ground texture could use some more work, maybe change the tone a bit or uppen the resolution...

Also in the first pic, it looks like there's texture 'pinching' on the ground, the rocks and dirt don't look quite right. The paths (the dirty bits with less stone) look straight (not wonky), too. Apart from that, fantastic work.
I'd watch your lighting and colours a little more, its very monotone at the moment, there really not a contrasting element anywhere.
- changed terrain materials, more hi-res
- added blue color, mostly in shadows, bigger contrast, white lights are more blue now, added few more lights, sunlight is burning a bit more
- added background elements (buildings, oil tanks). I'm looking for some mountanis to...
Problems:
- no idea how to make cables thiner, new mesh is needed or maybe there's a different way?
- I have no idea why that rocks are glowing like that, it's a lightmap falut. I'll look for other rocks

Is there a way to group few objects into one selection in UDK and keep them grouped?
