Hey guys im new, but ive been following here for about a month now. Anyways im attempting to model a samurai helmet and sculpt in some detail. I plan to do a high to low bake but ive also never done one before so i may need some help. Anyways lets get started. Some references

Even without seeing your wires I can tell you aren't using constraint lines on your high poly.
I also agree with mjackson, it's a under detailed. Those ovals on the top of the helmet look in all those concepts to be cylindrical with a taper to the top. This is your high poly, go crazy with the details. Also, on another note, not everything has to be connected to your base mesh. Even though a lot of it looks interconnected you can just let it float.
Thanks Guys Im gonna push the detail a lot. Im going to take you advice moosey and not connect the pieces on the base. On the constraints, I rendered these shots in smooth preview so no they dont have constraints, but thats only because I haven't actually smoothed it. It was more for conceptual purposes.
