Sketchbook: defpixel

Hi guys,

I've decided to start this sketchbook because I would like to track my progress and also because I'd like some feedback from other people, although most of the stuff I post here will be wip, my hope is that this thread will give me the incentive to finish models I've started and also start new models and push myself to improve thus develop a quality portfolio of work one day (I hope), my interest is character art but I also like hard edge modeling so there should be some variation in my work, c&c welcome...

This is G1 Optimus Prime, I have the figure so I decided to model it, I intended to make it as exact as possible to the real thing but down the track I changed some things and added others here and there, this is not finished, it's almost finished in terms of modeling, I intend to texture it and finish it soon.

Woh, if it isn't Mr. Optimus Prime! :] It's looking good so far m8, but you should now perhaps focus on making details, logical details. How are the parts held together? Do the tires on his legs spin, and if so what are the mechanics behind it etc. Hope you get my point. Flesh out with details and I know, the model will become more awesome!

Thanks Eoq, being a toy I tried to keep it as close to the real thing as possible, although I did exclude/change some of the parts and joints because I was having trouble rigging it, I've been contemplating putting back some of the actual joints and connectors on the figure, he has hydraulics on the front and back of his arms and some cool details on the connection of the top and bottom of the leg. All I wanna do with this model is just rig it enough to get a cool pose for presentation.
