Flying Drones

Hello everyone,

I just finished up my three drones... the repair, support, and radar drones. I am happy with the way each of them turned out. I wanted to do some modular building with each of them and change up the textures for each drone. For the support drone I wanted to match the color scheme and look with the firewalker that I did a while ago. The radar drone was meant to be tron inspired, and the repair drone I wanted to challenge myself by giving it some snow on the body. Some of the textures were transferred from the support drone to the repair drone just to move things along a bit faster. The poly count for each of them probably could have been lower, but I wanted to treat each of them as a hero piece or the main focus if it were going to go into a game.

Thanks and I hope you like my work smile.gif

These are looking really sexy man nice work.

I'm not sure where all those polys are though. It looks like you spent most of them in the tiny detail areas. The silhouttes of the side parts seem a bit jaggy.

Polycount is way to high man for such an object, and to be honest I dont know where those 20k are. The rotors look kinda booring right now, texture wise. Next time do a full highpoly of the object to get round clean edges.

    i agree with coldhands.
always start with a detail mesh, it'll save you so much time and you can plan out your final product a whole lot better. I like the design, i like your textures but the lack of a normal is hurting it.

    Thanks for the feedback :).

I thought the poly count was to high right about when I finished baking out my nrm maps and AO maps. I figured what the heck, I mine as well finish it up ya know. Do you think I should include this in my portfolio if I am applying for an environment/3d modeler position for a game studio? I graduate around September so I am starting to get worried :poly122:.

Anyways thanks for the critiques everyone.
