((WIP)) Badass Mech armor

So heres a personal work that ive been doing in my spare time for a couple of weeks now. most of te mesh is just there as place holder to know what and where im gonna put different pieces. so for now only the leg has the main pieces in place.
For now im pretty sure im gona make the hands and foots a little bit smaller
and im not sure about the jetpack too
I want to know what you guys think about the overall concept.

and also what kind of weapon would you suggest?! i was thinking about a zealot-like blade or maybe just a huuuge gun

you should go with a bfg!!

aka big freak'n gun!

but as a whole i like where it is going...i get a cartoony vibe from it, not sure if that is your goal though but maybe its the material you have ontop of it to give that effect to me.

Concept it in 2D first - here you tend to just throw stuff together. It could be a style thing (mech made of random collected parts) but if you want to go for "badass" there's no way around it - you have to design it.

I suggest you read up on composition theory and then apply these balance principles to armor design.

i really agree with you with the feeling of miss-matching parts. i want it to be more round so i should stick to round piece and forget about the hard edges square pieces like the knees and foot.i did a (i think) quick fix for the leg, ithink its better now. as for the 3d concept, i took that idee in a eat3d tutorial, its the first time but ill stick to the 2d concept next time.

so here i have some updates, i,ve worked on the back of the leg, torso and a bit on the head. theres alot of missing pieces on the left side of the character so just lok at the right one hehehe.
tell me what you think about the composition in the areas that i worked.

I think you should change the jet-pack design, the standard airplane turbine just doesn't fit this character very well. Go for something more aero-dynamic with more detail on the hull of the jet-pack so it integrates with the character better.

very... chunky but in a good way of coruse I agree with 3DViad don't look right rest fits perfectly.

Forgot to mention about the jet pack, it wont stay there as it, its just a cylindre that i put there as a place holder, i will post a reference design that i will aim for in a couple of minutes. Thks for the comments guys!

SO, i didnt know if i wanted to go for a

blade or a huge gatlinggun

for the weapon. ive made a quick modeling of what i would look like with the blade and a shilded arm on the other side.
ithink i will keep this look and weapon,
i like the look that the shilded arm gives. tell me what you think?

new update, i added the blade and a couple more details. the blade has a cannon in the middle but i will make it bigger cuz we dont even see it.
also im thinking about removing the spline in the back and try another design.
