I'm making a bunny (brown hare) for use as a boid in forests. Basically the bunny will have a set of basic anims (just basic stuff a bunny would be doing in a forest, hopping around, eating stuff off the ground etc) and the bunny will be very scared (thats not the right word, but whatever) so in practice you never see one up super close..

thats the low poly model i just whipped up.. im considering it pretty much done.

just a few questions since this is the first animal model ive made:
1) do you actually recognize it as a hare? or does it look like a heap of polygons to you?
2) do you guys think the ears are too high poly, since the bunny will never be seen up close.
3) personally i dont think its worth the trouble to take this in for a spin in zbrush.. what do you guys think
4) should i change the pose of the bunny before i UV it, to prevent stretching during anims?

I think that if you want to map it, that you need to pose the hare in a neutral position. Yes, it does look like a hare, but may we see your reference? It's hard to judge the work without knowing what you're basing it on. I think the ears are too dense in comparison to the body. Take a few loops out. Use them elsewhere.

basically i just used the google images results for "rusakko" or "european hare" which are both the same thing.

    here are some:

If you do decide to put it in zB put some more loops in the front and back lower legs, and take some out from the ears to make it more uniform. If you change the pose I would only bring the Bunny's hind legs up, that would seem a more neutral pose.
