Bandwidth prioritizer?

Is there a way to prioritize which programs use internet bandwidth? I've read up about setting QoS on your router but ours doesn't have that, are there any programs preferably free that do this on windows 7?

I haven't messed with QoS myself but check and see if you can use DD-WRT custom firmware on your router - it really beefs up a consumer grade router into professional levels - it may be able to add QoS to your router.

A word of warning: read up first, a mistake during installation could brick your router.

Netlimiter seems just the ticket don't really wanna risk my router dying and i'm not that technical with such things just didn't know what term to search for for this kind of software many thx
